What Parents Need to Know
MARION AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS
Stanton-Weirsdale Elementary houses the Marion Afterschool Program (MAP) for students before and after school. The program provides before and after school supervision for our students at a reasonable fee. Students arriving at school before 7:20 must enroll in MAP. If students eat breakfast at school, they may arrive at 7:20. Students remaining on campus after 2:35 must also be enrolled in MAP. Any child who is not picked up after 2:35 p.m. will be taken to MAP and charged a fee. If you have any questions please call 671-6265.

VOLUNTEER!
Parents are invited and encouraged to volunteer at school. Volunteers are needed to tutor students, shelve library books, make games, and chaperone field trips. Stanton-Weirsdale received an award for maintaining the highest number of volunteer hours for all schools in Marion County.
TITLE I, MARION COUNTY STRATEGIC PLAN AND SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN
Stanton-Weirsdale Elementary is a proud Title I school and will continue a school-wide Title I program during the current school year. The Title I criteria, which will benefit our entire school population, is incorporated into this School Improvement Plan.
The faculty, staff, and parents at Stanton-Weirsdale Elementary focus on the following objectives for the School Improvement Plan:
- Continue toward readiness to start school.
- Improve student performance in reading.
- Improve student performance in writing.
- Improve student performance in math and science.
- Provide a safe and orderly learning and working environment.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase parent involvement.
UNIFORMS
A frequently asked question is, "Does my child have to wear a uniform?" The answer is Stanton-Weirsdale does not have a school uniform policy.
SCHOOL INSPECTION
In accordance with E.P.A. regulations, all Marion County Schools have been inspected for asbestos containing materials. The original inspection along with a diagram of the location(s), and a copy of all re-inspections has been made available in the administrative office at each school for review.
